“Kurd Online”, an independent online newspaper that covers news and developments in Rojava (Northeast Syria) and the region.
“Kurd Online” was founded in 2008 and faced challenges operating during certain periods of the Syrian conflict. During its periods of operation, the site served as a platform for diverse viewpoints by publishing positions, statements, and writings of Kurdish and Arab parties, as well as publications of human rights organizations since the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011, documenting thousands of violations.
“Kurd Online” provides a cultural platform that focuses on Kurdish culture, history, and heritage. The site aims to raise awareness about Kurdish culture and counter the distortion it faces due to the lack of digital content related to its affairs.
The site is run by volunteer journalists from within Rojava and Northeast Syria and relies on press materials sent by journalists, writers, and activists in the region.
