A meeting was held at Qamishli International Airport in Rojava (northeastern Syria), bringing together a security delegation from Syria’s Interim Authority with leaders of the Asayish (Internal Security Forces), the Kurdish security force, and the airport administration. The meeting took place within the framework of completing the implementation of the provisions of the January 29 agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the authority in Damascus.
The meeting was attended by Asayish leader Mahmoud Khalil Ali, Brigadier General Marwan al-Ali, the security chief appointed by the Interim Authority in al-Hasakah, along with a number of military and administrative officials from both sides. Discussions focused on assessing the airport’s administrative, technical, and security conditions, as well as examining mechanisms for joint coordination to ensure the organization and continuity of operations.
The entry of the government delegation into Qamishli Airport comes as part of the implementation of the agreement concluded between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Interim Authority.
It is scheduled that, starting tomorrow, Monday, airport staff will arrive along with a group of technicians to conduct readiness tests and carry out the necessary maintenance work. Qamishli Airport is also expected to gradually resume service, with the operation of domestic flights by the end of the current month.
Previously, a group of approximately 100 members affiliated with Syria’s Interim Authority entered the city center of Qamishli, alongside a similar group that entered the center of al-Hasakah, in accordance with the agreement reached between the two sides.
On February 3, 2026, personnel from the Ministry of Interior of the Interim Authority entered the city of Qamishli in Rojava and reached the security square, in a step that came within the provisions of the agreement concluded between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian government, amid an atmosphere described as positive and marked by joint coordination.
Spokespersons for the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and the Ministry of Interior of the Interim Authority in Syria confirmed that the entry of Ministry of Interior personnel into Qamishli proceeded smoothly and without obstacles, within a framework of cooperation and joint coordination between the two sides.
