A series of killings and kidnappings targeting civilians in several Syrian governorates

Banias: Citizen Issa Ibrahim, nicknamed “Badr,” was killed on Sunday, September 7, 2025, after being kidnapped by an armed group in the city of Baniyas. According to information, the body of Ibrahim, a shoe store owner near the Real Estate Bank, was found near Burj al-Sabi in the city. The victim hailed from the al-Trimsiyya farm in Sarbiyun in the Jableh countryside and belonged to the Alawite sect. Sources indicated that the attack was carried out by members of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.

Homs: In another incident, a 48-year-old Alawite man was killed in the village of Qaniyat al-Asi in the northern Homs countryside after unknown gunmen opened fire through the window of his house.

Hama: Hama witnessed a kidnapping targeting a citizen from the “Alloush” family in the al-Manakh neighborhood. According to information, three unknown gunmen in a car intercepted the victim and forced him to accompany them at gunpoint. The motives for the kidnapping and the fate of the abductee remain unknown, although the Alloush family is known for its loyalty to the former regime.

Damascus Countryside: In the village of Hosh Arab in the western Damascus countryside, a citizen was killed on Saturday, September 6, 2025, by four masked gunmen driving a General Security SUV, according to reports. Sources reported that the gunmen opened fire directly at the victim’s car, killing him in front of his parents. His father was seriously injured and subsequently transferred to intensive care. The information indicated that the gunmen targeted the vehicle’s wheels. When the victim and his father attempted to flee toward agricultural land, the father was shot in the foot, while the son was killed instantly.

Suwayda and Damascus: More than fifty days after their kidnapping during an attack on Suwayda, the families of five young men from the Radwan and Nimr families confirmed their deaths. The victims are: Fares Hassan Radwan, Mamoun Hassan Radwan, Hassan Fares Radwan, Alaa Fares Radwan, and Hussein Fahd al-Nimr. Sources confirmed that the young men were taken from Sweida to Daraa, where they were killed in the field. Their bodies were then transferred to Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Damascus, where their families identified them through tattoos and other distinctive marks.

In a related development, the families of four other young men identified the bodies of their sons in hospitals in Damascus: Engineer Faisal Salama Hatoum, Akram Badr Hatoum, Youssef Hamad Amer, and Raja Jihad Abu Al-Muna. The information indicated that the victims were kidnapped in mid-July 2025 while on their way to bury their relative Fadel Hatoum, before being killed in the same manner.

In a separate incident, the body of Jamil Hussein Al-Maaz was returned to his family in Jaramana on September 3, 2025, bearing clear signs of torture, after he went missing during the attack on the city.
