During the past days, several areas in Syria have witnessed a series of violations, including killings, kidnappings, and forced displacement, carried out by elements affiliated with Hay ‘at Tahrir al-Sham, according to activists.

In the predominantly Alawite neighbourhood of Wadi al-Dhahab in Homs, 15-year-old Ghina Jassim al-Hassan was killed from her wounds after members of HTS targeted her balcony on 19 August.

A father and his son were killed in Salhab
In the countryside of Hama, Mr. Ahmed Juma Hassan, 65, and his son Ali Ahmed Hassan, 27, were killed on August 18, after members of HTS stormed their home in the city of Salhab and shot them, killing them instantly.

A young Alawite man was killed in Latakia while extinguishing fires
In the town of Khamilah in the Salanfeh area of Latakia, a young man, Abdul Jawad Ibrahim Suleiman, 30, was killed by armed elements who intercepted him while he was riding his motorcycle to fill water from a spring at the Prophet Yunus summit to extinguish fires. Sources reported that the gunmen shot him after beating him, killing him.

Killing a child and injuring her two brothers in the countryside of Homs
In the village of Telesarin in the countryside of Homs, the child Juliana Mahmoud Idris, 10 years old, was killed, and her two brothers Suleiman, 15 years old, and Ali, 12 years old, were seriously injured on August 15. According to local sources, a group of HTS members shot the children while they were on the balcony of their house, before leaving the village towards Tal Kalakh. The sources pointed out that the village is frequently targeted because of its Alawite population.

On August 18, the body of Dr. Muhammad Adnan Samkari, 82 years old, was found in one of the orchards of Damsarkhou district in Latakia, after he was kidnapped on April 29 by an armed group demanding a ransom of $100,000.

In the village of Mishrefah, northeast of Homs, Ms. Maram Raif Al-Ali, seven months pregnant, was abducted from her home on July 5. Her husband, Abdullah Hussein Ibrahim, reported in a video that he left the house to work at nine in the morning, and a quarter of an hour later, his neighbor told him that his children were crying in the street. On his return, he found the house had been broken with traces of blood on the floor, and his wife had not been found. Despite reporting to HTS authorities, the investigations have not yielded any information so far.

In the village of Umm al-Amad in the city of Al-Mukharram in the countryside of Homs, engineer Ahmed Shahoud was kidnapped on the morning of August 17 while working on his land. His car was found parked near the ground with his phone inside, without any information about his fate.

In the countryside of the city of Masyaf in Hama, contact with Mrs. Bushra Muhammad Malaj was lost since the morning of August 17, after she left the village of Ba ‘rin to the National Hospital in Masyaf for medical examinations. Her husband stated in a video that her phone was out of range, asking for help to reveal her fate.

Forced displacement of the people of the village of Kafr Aqeed
In the countryside of Hama, HTS elements carried out a forced evacuation of the village of Kafr Aqeed, located in the Al-Ghab Plain, on August 18, where residents were forced to leave their homes without being allowed to carry their property. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the elements informed the residents that “the village has become the property of others,” without further clarification. The observatory pointed out that the village was not exposed to the recent fires in the area, which denies that the evacuation is linked to it.
