Afrin, Syria – The Afrin-Syria Human Rights Organization reported that elements of the Public Security Administration, affiliated with the transitional authorities in Syria, arrested three young men from the village of (Kefersefrê), located in the Jindires subdistrict of Afrin countryside, on the morning of Tuesday, September 2, 2025, while they were attending the funeral of the late Niyazi Haji Mohammed Haji Sida, aged 34, from the Kedro family in the village.
According to the report, the three detained youths are: Idris Khalil Rabhi Kedro (42 years old, mother’s name Amina), his brother Rashid Khalil Rabhi Kedro (41 years old), and Mohammed Hussein Kedro (34 years old, mother’s name Zainab, only child of his parents). A fourth individual, Walat Bashir Kedro (mother’s name Lamaan, nicknamed “Abu Walid”), managed to escape.
The report stated that the young men had traveled from the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo city to Kafr Safra to participate in the funeral ceremony. It added that a patrol consisting of five vehicles raided the funeral tent in search of the wanted individuals, resulting in the arrest of Idris, Rashid, and Mohammed Hussein, while Walat fled.
The organization clarified that the three youths “remain under arbitrary detention” in the city of Jindires to this day, with no known reasons for their arrest. The organization cited unnamed sources suggesting that the arrests were made “following a tip-off from one of the village residents.”
