President Masoud Barzani expressed his hope in a message that “this ceasefire between America and Iran achieves lasting peace, security, and stability for our region.”
The Kurdish leader, Masoud Barzani, published his message in a post on the social media network (X), stating: “We hope this ceasefire marks the beginning of a complete end to the existing problems in our region. Undoubtedly, peace is always better than war.”

In the same context, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, welcomed the ceasefire between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, declaring that “this development represents an important step toward de-escalation, protecting civilians, and restoring constructive dialogue.”
The President of the Kurdistan Region added, in a message posted via his account on the (X) platform: “We appreciate the efforts of all parties that contributed to facilitating this ceasefire.”
The President of the Kurdistan Region further stated: “I hope that all parties commit to this pledge in good faith and work toward a lasting peace that enhances stability, security, and prosperity throughout the entire region.”
According to the latest statistics recorded daily by Rudaw Media Network, the Kurdistan Region has been subjected to more than 700 drone and missile attacks since the beginning of the conflict between America, Israel, and Iran on February 28, 2026, until dawn today, Wednesday, April 8, 2026, prior to the ceasefire announcement.
Earlier this Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his approval to halt the bombardment and attacks on Iran for a period of two weeks.
Additionally, U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated on Wednesday that reaching an agreement to end the war in the Middle East is possible, provided that Iran demonstrates a willingness to negotiate in good faith.
