Meeting in Hasakah Discusses Implementation of January 29 Agreement; Progress Confirmed on Prisoner Files and Displaced Persons’ Return

An expanded meeting was held in Hasakah Governorate, bringing together the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), General Mazloum Abdi, and the Presidential Envoy to Hasakah for following up on the implementation of the January 29 Agreement, Brigadier General Ziad al-Ayesh. The session was attended by the Governor of Hasakah, Engineer Nour al-Din Ahmed, the Commander of the Internal Security Forces in the governorate, Marwan al-Ali, and his deputy, Mahmoud Khalil, alongside the Co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations in the Autonomous Administration, Ilham Ahmed.

According to a statement issued by the Press Office of Hasakah Governorate, the meeting was characterized by a positive and constructive atmosphere. Discussions focused on several core files related to the implementation of the agreement’s terms, primarily the release of prisoners and detainees from both sides. The participants emphasized the importance of maintaining this trajectory to bolster mutual trust and support regional stability efforts.

The statement further explained that attendees discussed the resumption of the return of displaced persons and refugees to their home regions, as well as methods to facilitate institutional integration. It noted that the steps taken in this regard are proceeding smoothly and effectively.

Additionally, the statement noted that the meeting addressed the amnesty decree issued today, which came as a direct result of the meeting’s outcomes within the framework of supporting de-escalation efforts and fostering a positive climate.

The statement also highlighted the situation of the displaced persons from Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ayn), revealing that arrangements are currently underway to ensure their return to their areas following the Eid holiday under safe and organized conditions. Furthermore, it was announced that a group of displaced persons from Afrin is also scheduled to return after the holiday.
