Latakia – Homs – Hama – Tartous

The young engineer, Majd Kamal Ra’i, from the village of Fadio in the Latakia countryside, was killed today, September 10, in the city of Latakia, according to local pages from his village. Sources suggested that the incident was a criminal offense “without sectarian motives.”

In Homs, Milad Aziz al-Farkh, a Christian man from the village of Kafra Bawadi al-Nasara, died under torture in a Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham prison, specifically in al-Balouneh prison, on September 8. Information indicated that al-Farkh had been arrested on August 25 on charges of “food supply violations,” a charge that does not justify detention under Syrian law. News of his death emerged after he was forced to make confessions described as “fabricated” under torture.

Meanwhile, contact with three residents of Safita—Radwan Khalil Youssef, Wissam Hassan Ali, and Rami Ali Saouf—was lost on the afternoon of September 10 on the Homs-Tartous road while traveling in a white pickup truck. No information is available yet on their fate.

In the Hama countryside, local and media sources from the town of Salhab reported that a girl from the predominantly Alawite village of al-Hawrat, named Rawan Mahfoud Asaad, was sexually assaulted by a group of young men from the village of al-Asharneh while on her way to work at a sweets shop in the town. The girl was transferred to al-Suqaylabiyah National Hospital for treatment.

The residents of the village of Hurat Amurin issued a statement condemning the incident, considering it “a crime that contradicts human values, customs, traditions, and religions,” and demanding that the perpetrators be identified and held accountable “as soon as possible.”
