The Ministry of Peshmerga in the Kurdistan Region has denied circulating reports regarding the cessation of U.S. assistance to Peshmerga forces, confirming that support continues according to agreed-upon frameworks.
In an official statement, the Ministry noted, “Reports have been circulating for several days claiming that U.S. aid to the Peshmerga forces has stopped.” It clarified that “these reports are baseless; the support process is ongoing in accordance with the joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the U.S. Department of Defense and the Ministry of Peshmerga, which aims to ensure the success of the reform process and the reunification of the Peshmerga forces.”
The statement added, “The only aid that has ceased is specifically related to the war against ISIS terrorists, due to the waning and decline of the terrorist organization’s activities,” emphasizing that “U.S. financial and logistical assistance is organized according to a specific timeline.”
The Ministry further pointed out that the current MoU “expires in September 2026,” noting that “talks are expected to begin in the coming period to sign a new Memorandum of Understanding between the two sides,” according to the statement.
