Escalating Provocations at “Joint Checkpoint” in Kobani Countryside and Seizure of Private Property in Ain Issa

Activists from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) have reported that members of the “Al-Hamza Division” (Al-Hamzat)—a faction operating under the Ministry of Defense of the Syrian Interim Government and backed by Turkey—have escalated provocations over the past three days at the joint checkpoint shared by “Asayish” and Public Security forces in the town of Al-Qanaya, located in the Kobani countryside.

According to sources, faction members have been issuing threats and provocative statements directed at Asayish personnel. These interactions reportedly include hints of a potential attack to end their presence in the region. This move is believed to be aimed at obstructing ongoing understandings between the Interim Government forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) regarding the military integration process.

In a related development, a group from the same faction seized a commercial shop belonging to a Kurdish citizen in the town of Ain Issa, in the Raqqa countryside. No measures have been taken to stop this violation or hold those responsible accountable.

These incidents occur amid a continued pattern of similar events in the countrysides of Kobani, Tel Abyad, and Raqqa. Provocations and violations by Turkish-backed factions remain frequent, in the absence of any deterrent intervention to put an end to these transgressions.
