Former Israeli Communications Minister: US Congress Moves to Support Sweida and Enact Law Including Druze, Kurds, and Alawite Christians

Former Israeli Minister of Communications and Cyber Affairs and former Knesset member Ayoob Kara pointed to what he described as a “very important” meeting held at the US Congress in Washington, as part of a series of meetings with figures supporting Israel and the Druze community.

In a post on his Facebook account, Kara explained that the meeting brought together Congressman Lindsey Graham, Congressman Richard N. Swett, and his wife, Dr. Katrina Lantos Swett, noting that they expressed their willingness to assist Sweida.

The statement added that, in the coming days, members of Congress, along with Jewish organizations and human rights organizations, have pledged to work toward enacting a law that would include the Druze and Alawite and Christians, in addition to the Kurds, whose protection the United States is committed to.

Kara stressed that this initiative also includes opening a corridor for humanitarian supplies.
