Over 145,000 Signatures Collected in 24 Hours to Support “Save the Kurds Act” in the US Congress

The “Save the Kurds Act” has garnered more than 145,340 signatures as of the time of publication, as part of a global campaign launched by Kurds in the United States, Canada, and across the world to urge US senators to support the proposed legislation.

According to the campaign organizers, the growing number of signatures reflects expanding international solidarity with the Kurdish cause, stressing that “the more people who participate, the greater the pressure on Congress.”

On Thursday, January 29, 2026, Jihan Brevki, advisor to the Confederation of Kurdish Communities in the US and Canada and initiator of the campaign, stated during her appearance on (Yom Hiwa Jamal) on Rudaw Media Network that “this bill represents a decisive step toward protecting the future of the Kurds in Rojava Kurdistan and the region.”

Based on the latest figures published on Change.org, the number of signatories exceeded 145,340 people within less than 24 hours. Brevki told Rudaw that “collecting such a large number of signatures in just one day is clear evidence of the concern shown by Kurds and their friends around the world regarding the situation facing Rojava Kurdistan.”

Earlier, US Senator Lindsey Graham reaffirmed that the United States is making intensive efforts to maintain stability in Syria and prevent a new wave of violence, warning of the risks facing Kurds in the country’s northeast and stressing that Congress is prepared to act in their defense.

In this context, Graham announced his intention to introduce the “Save the Kurds Act,” which seeks to impose severe sanctions on any government or entity involved in hostile actions against Kurds, noting that the proposed legislation enjoys broad bipartisan support from both Republicans and Democrats.
