The Sere Kaniye / Ras al-Ain Displaced Persons Committee stated that preparations are underway for the return of 847 families to the city’s countryside in Western Kurdistan “Rojava / Northeastern Syria.”

Earlier, the committee announced the launch of the seventh return convoy for families displaced from the city of Sere Kaniye / Ras al-Ain and its countryside, scheduled for the upcoming Wednesday and Thursday, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the return of displaced persons to their original areas.

According to the committee, the convoy includes approximately 847 displaced families scheduled to return to their homes in Sere Kaniye / Ras al-Ain and its countryside, following years of forced displacement and human suffering in displacement camps and shelter centers.

The Sere Kaniye / Ras al-Ain Displaced Persons Committee emphasized that the return of displaced persons to their homes is an inherent and legitimate right. It requires providing the necessary security guarantees and protection, ensuring a safe, voluntary, and dignified return, and working to remove obstacles that prevent all displaced persons from returning to their homes and properties.

Furthermore, the committee stressed the necessity of completing the return process to ensure that rights holders reclaim their homes, real estate, and lands, putting an end to the years-long suffering of displaced persons, and ultimately achieving a sustainable return that preserves their dignity and rights.
