The Prison Administration of the Autonomous Administration issues a statement regarding Al-Aqatan Prison in Raqqa
The Prison Administration of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the North and East Syria Region has issued a clarifying statement concerning a designated section of Al-Aqatan Prison in the city of Raqqa that housed a number of juveniles.
The administration confirmed that some of these juveniles were involved in various crimes, and official complaints had been filed against them by citizens, while others had fallen victim to recruitment and exploitation by ISIS.
The statement indicated that these juveniles had been transferred approximately three months ago from the juvenile detention facility to Al-Aqatan Prison.
It stressed that treatment inside the prison was conducted in accordance with international standards and included comprehensive rehabilitation programs aimed at correcting behavior, providing psychological and social rehabilitation, and ensuring their proper reintegration into society after the completion of their detention periods.
