35 Dead, 30 Injured in Preliminary Toll of Bus Collision on Deir ez-Zor–Damascus Highway

The death toll from a collision involving two passenger buses on the Deir ez-Zor–Damascus highway has risen to 35 dead and 30 injured, according to Dr. Najib Al-Naasan, Director of the Referral, Ambulance and Emergency Directorate at the Syrian Ministry of Health.

The accident occurred in the area between Palmyra (Tadmur) and Deir ez-Zor, when a bus carrying personnel from the Ministry of Interior collided head-on with a civilian bus transporting civilian passengers.

In a statement to SANA, Dr. Al-Naasan said: “The death toll from the collision between the two passenger buses on the Deir ez-Zor–Damascus highway has so far reached 35 dead and 30 injured,” noting that the figures remain preliminary and subject to update.
