ERBIL — The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, met on Thursday with Lieutenant General Kevin Lambert, the Commanding General of the Global Coalition forces in Iraq and Syria, to discuss the latest security developments in the region.
According to a statement issued by the Kurdistan Region Presidency, both sides emphasized during the meeting the “importance” of continued coordination and cooperation between the Peshmerga forces, the Iraqi Army, security forces, and the Coalition forces. This cooperation is deemed especially vital during this sensitive phase in the region’s history to maintain stability and overcome ongoing challenges.
The statement further noted that the meeting addressed the “threat of terrorism” and the fight against ISIS, as well as the broader impacts and repercussions of the war on Iraq and the region, alongside several other issues of mutual interest.
