Sydney, Australia, 04.05.2026 — A remembrance program was held in Sydney to honor Peshmerga martyrs who lost their lives in recent drone attacks, according to a press release issued on the occasion.
The statement indicated that the event was organized by the Australian Kurdish Society (AKS) in Merrylands, Sydney, bringing together members of the Kurdish diaspora from across Kurdistan, including Bakur, Bashur, Rojava, and Rojhelat.
The statement explained that the program began with the Kurdish national anthem, followed by a welcoming speech from Mr. Nader Gariban, president of AKS. It added that the ceremony featured performances of revolutionary Kurdish songs by local artists, alongside poetry recitations presented during the event.
The statement noted that attendees strongly condemned Iran over its attacks on Kurdistan, which resulted in the deaths of numerous Kurdish civilians and Peshmergas from both Bashur and Rojhelat.
According to the statement, the program was attended by representatives of several Kurdish political parties, including Arman RAJABI of the Komala Party and Esmail ANJIRI of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran, who delivered a statement on behalf of the Rojhilati Alliance Group, described as an umbrella organization of six Rojhilati political parties. Mr. Sirvan BARZANJI also participated in the event representing the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
The statement further added that representatives from the Al Ahwazi community took part in the program to express their support for the Kurdish community.
