Ghazi Salloum denies carrying weapons or joining any military faction, confirming that circulated images are fabricated
Syrian food content creator Ghazi Salloum has been subjected to an incitement campaign on social media following the dissemination of AI-fabricated images and accusations that he was previously a fighter, amid calls for his arrest.
According to activists, the campaign stemmed from Salloum’s affiliation with the Alawite sect, in addition to his millions of followers across social media platforms.
It was revealed that the circulated images do not belong to Ghazi Salloum, who categorically denied ever carrying weapons or joining any military faction, emphasizing that he has been working in the field of food preparation for over ten years.
In a post on his Facebook account, followed by more than 1.1 million people, Salloum stated:
“Good morning, my friends,
I am your brother Ghazi Al-Salloum, one of you and among you, and everyone in the region knows me. In my entire life, I have never carried a weapon nor do I even know what one looks like. Since yesterday, there has been an incitement campaign against me, and I don’t know why. In any case, I entrust my affair to God, and may God forgive everyone who is inciting against me. The photos are clearly 100% artificial intelligence, and the original photos are available on the internet, showing clearly how they were manipulated.
