Barzani Praises the “Historic Stance” of Kurdistan’s Citizens in Supporting Western Kurdistan, Discusses Rojava and the Kurdish Diaspora with Perîvan Aymaz

Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the citizens of the Kurdistan Region for what he described as their “sincere response” in collecting aid and assistance for residents of Western Kurdistan (Rojava), affirming that this stance is “historic” and a source of pride and honor.

In a message published by the Barzani Headquarters today, Wednesday (February 4, 2026), President Barzani stated:

“In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

I extend my deepest thanks to all dear citizens of Kurdistan for their sincere response in collecting aid and assistance for our brothers and sisters in Western Kurdistan. This stance is a historic one and a source of pride and appreciation.”

He added:

“I also extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the Barzani Charity Foundation, as well as to all organizations, entities, individuals, and media outlets that played a role in collecting humanitarian aid and basic necessities for our brothers and sisters in Western Kurdistan. I highly commend their efforts and endeavors; they have fulfilled a national and patriotic duty in the best possible manner.”

Barzani noted that this stance “contributes to strengthening national sentiment and fostering national awareness,” emphasizing that “the dear people of Kurdistan have once again proven to the entire world the truth that the sons and daughters of Kurdistan share both joy and sorrow, and that they are always a source of support and assistance to one another.”

In a related context, President Masoud Barzani received today, Wednesday (February 4, 2026), in Pirman, Berîvan Aymaz, Vice President of the Parliament of the German state of North Rhine–Westphalia.

During the meeting, Berîvan Aymaz expressed her happiness at visiting Kurdistan and meeting President Barzani, thanking him “for taking the initiative to assume the defense of the Kurdish cause in Western Kurdistan amid the recent risks and developments,” and highly praising his efforts “to protect the Kurdish people there.”

She also expressed her gratitude to the Barzani Charity Foundation for its role in “providing assistance and relief to those affected in Western Kurdistan,” wishing that “the Kurdistan Region may grow stronger and more prosperous day after day.” She further commended President Barzani’s support and follow-up on the affairs of the Kurdish diaspora abroad, considering it “an active and influential force in supporting the cause of the people of Kurdistan.”

For his part, President Barzani welcomed Ms. Berîvan Aymaz, praising “her tireless efforts and steadfast perseverance, which enabled her to attain a prominent political position in Germany,” and wishing her “success and continued achievement.” He also addressed issues concerning the Kurdish diaspora, offering guidance and advice, and emphasizing “the necessity for Kurds living abroad to adhere to preserving Kurdish identity and language.”

The meeting also discussed the situation in Western Kurdistan and the peace process in Turkey as two central topics of discussion.
