Kurdish political parties and forces issued a statement to the public opinion, emphasizing that the Syrian revolution was launched with the participation of all components of Syrian society, foremost among them the Kurdish people, who made great sacrifices to build a free, democratic, and pluralistic homeland. They expressed regret over what they described as the “reproduction of policies of exclusion and national assimilation” against the Kurds, considering the continuation of these practices an extension of the Ba’ath regime’s policies and a contradiction to the values of the Syrian revolution.
The statement noted that among the most prominent aspirations of the Kurdish people is the restoration of historical names to Kurdish regions, foremost among them the city of Kobani, confirming their condemnation of what they described as exclusionary behaviors. It stressed that achieving sustainable stability in Syria requires a just, democratic, and comprehensive solution to the Kurdish issue, along with the constitutional consolidation of the national and cultural identity of the Kurdish people in a future Syria to ensure genuine partnership and full equality in citizenship. This is in addition to renewing the commitment to joint action with Syrian democratic forces to end all forms of discrimination and build a state of right and law, according to the statement issued by the Kurdish political parties and forces.

Statement to the Public Opinion
The Syrian revolution was launched with the participation of all components of Syrian society, foremost among them the Kurdish people, who offered the finest of their youth as martyrs and pure blood to protect the land and attain legitimate rights, looking forward to building a free, democratic, and pluralistic homeland that accommodates all its children without discrimination or exclusion.
We hoped, after the immense sacrifices and the fall of the Ba’athist tyrannical system, that the country would witness a new phase in which stolen rights would be restored to their owners, and historical injustice would be lifted from the Kurdish people.
Foremost among these aspirations was the redressing of Kurdish regions by restoring their historical and original names, which have always expressed the identity and culture of their people before being subjected to policies of demographic change and systematic Arabization; we particularly mention the city of Kobani, which defeated the most vicious terrorist organization in the world and became an icon of Kurdish resistance worldwide.
However, today, with great concern and regret, we see a reproduction of the same policies of exclusion and national assimilation practiced by the Ba’ath regime for decades, but this time under the cover and character of a strict religious Arabist nature. These practices not only contradict the values of the tolerant Islamic religion and heavenly laws that equalized all peoples, colors, and languages, but also constitute an explicit stab in the flank of the Syrian revolution and its shared liberation values.
Accordingly, we in the Kurdish political parties and forces emphasize the following:
We condemn in the strongest terms these exclusionary behaviors and practices, and consider them an extension and a new injustice added to the record of historical injustice imposed on our people.
We stress that sustainable stability in Syria will not be achieved without finding a just, democratic, and comprehensive solution to the Kurdish issue as a national issue par excellence.
We demand the consolidation of the national and cultural identity of the Kurdish people within the constitution of future Syria, ensuring genuine partnership and full equality in free citizenship.
We renew our commitment to joint action with all Syrian democratic forces that believe in pluralism, to end all forms of discrimination and build a state of right and law.
Long live a free, democratic, and pluralistic Syria for all its children.
Mercy to the martyrs and freedom for the detainees.
