The SDF Media Center stated that its forces “firmly confronted last night, Wednesday, the infiltration attempts and artillery attacks launched by unruly groups affiliated with the Damascus government in the Deir Hafer area, and completely thwarted these attempts.”
The SDF affirmed in a statement that “full responsibility for these attacks lies with the party that initiated the escalation through repeated violations that threaten public stability.”
The statement added, “At the same time, our forces reassure all residents that the situation is under complete control and that they are constantly prepared to confront any new violations.”
The media center statement added, “Our forces also emphasize their commitment to their national duty to defend the land and protect the people, and that any further attempts at aggression will be met with a firm response that preserves the security of the region and protects the dignity of its people.”
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Thursday that a cautious calm prevailed in the eastern Aleppo countryside this morning, following clashes and mutual shelling that continued until late yesterday evening between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Ankara-backed “National Army” factions. This marked a new escalation in which heavy and medium weapons were used.
According to local sources, the factions targeted SDF positions in the countryside of the town of Maskanah with several mortar shells, and the SDF responded directly to the source of the fire. On the Deir Hafer axis, several shells fell on a bridge inside the town, followed by similar fire from the SDF.
