The Committee to Protect Journalists has condemned the obstruction, assault, and attempted confiscation of equipment targeting seven journalists from Kurdish media outlets in northern Syria.
In a post on X, the organization stated that the journalists—working for Ronahi TV, Hawar News Agency, and Jin TV—were attacked while traveling to al-Jalabiya to cover protests against the appointment of a new local administrator.
The committee stressed that “Syrian authorities must ensure that journalists can report freely, without violence, intimidation, or interference.”

The incident comes amid local tensions in the Kobani region, where protests have emerged over the appointment of administrators from outside the area, with criticism that such measures contradict prior agreements intended to respect local governance and representation.
