The Consultative Meeting Parties follow with deep concern and condemnation the inflammatory statements and hostile rhetoric launched by tribal groups who present themselves under the so-called “War Tent.” This rhetoric includes dangerous calls targeting the Kurdish people in Syria, in a scene that raises alarm due to the racist tendencies and incitement to hatred and violence it carries, accompanied by indicators of external agendas seeking to destabilize and ignite discord among the components of the Syrian people.
These calls represent extreme recklessness and a slide toward the abyss of a civil war in which there will be no winner; rather, the Syrian homeland with all its components will be the biggest loser. Igniting ethnic or sectarian conflicts serves only the forces that seek to prolong the crisis and undermine any chance of achieving peace and stability.
The Kurdish people have proven, throughout their history and during the various stages of the Syrian crisis, their adherence to the values of coexistence and civil peace, and their belief that the future of Syria cannot be built on hatred, racism, and exclusion, but rather on tolerance, respect for diversity, national partnership, and the rule of law in a decentralized state.
Furthermore, the appearance of weapons in such gatherings, and their arrival into the hands of those holding extremist and inciting rhetoric, brings to mind the tragedies and massacres witnessed on the coast and in As-Suwayda at the hands of unruly mob groups. This necessitates urgent action to prevent the recurrence of such incidents to protect civil peace.
While we condemn in the strongest terms these dangerous attempts targeting the Kurdish people and threatening efforts toward stability and integration, we call upon the United States of America and France, who contributed to the realization of the agreement, to fulfill their responsibilities and take serious steps to prevent any escalation that might threaten security and stability in the country.
We also demand that the Syrian Transitional Government take immediate and decisive action to put an end to this inflammatory rhetoric and hold accountable anyone who calls for hatred, violence, or discord in accordance with the provisions of the law. Any inaction or silence by the relevant authorities regarding these practices would raise serious questions about their position on the matter and undermine trust in the ability of state institutions to protect all citizens without discrimination.
At the same time, we call upon the masses of our Kurdish people, and all political and societal forces from all components, to exercise wisdom and restraint, to adhere to the path of peace, and to work together to ward off discord and preserve civil peace, as it is the only way to maintain societal security and the future of the country.
