The ministry confirms the Region’s adherence to a policy of neutrality and rejects the use of its territory as a launchpad for military or hostile actions against any country

The Ministry of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has denied the accuracy of media reports claiming the presence of Ukrainian drones or military forces and units within the region’s territory. The ministry confirmed that these reports are completely baseless, and that maintaining the region’s security and stability remains at the top of its priorities.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the ministry stated that the circulating claims regarding the presence of Ukrainian drones or military forces in the region are “completely baseless and entirely untrue.”

The ministry reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s firm position based on pursuing a policy of neutrality and distancing itself from regional and international conflicts, stressing its rejection of any attempts to use the region’s territory as a platform for military movements or hostile acts targeting any country.

It added that protecting the region’s security and stability represents a fundamental priority, emphasizing that “the Kurdistan Region will not be allowed, in any shape or form, to be involved or dragged into these conflicts.”

The KRG Interior Ministry’s denial follows reports published by Iranian media outlets, including the Tasnim news agency, which spoke of the deployment of thousands of small drones in the region. The Ukrainian Embassy in Iraq had previously rejected these allegations on October 21, describing them as “deliberate misinformation,” and confirming that no drones, military units, or associated personnel have been deployed in the Kurdistan Region or anywhere else in Iraq.
