Amichai Chikli, Israel’s Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, strongly criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the current policies of Turkey in two posts published on his account on the social media platform X.

Chikli stated that “a NATO summit in Erdoğan’s Turkey is like a vegan convention at KFC headquarters.”

He added: “Turkey under Erdoğan is an enemy of the free world and poses a grave threat, first and foremost to Turkey’s own oppressed citizens, as well as to Cyprus, Greece, Israel, and ethnic minorities across the Middle East,” concluding his post with the words: “Wake up.”

In a second post, Chikli described what he called the “new Axis of Evil,” saying that it “fuses together two of the most dangerous imperialist visions of our time: Erdoğan’s neo-Ottomanism, and the dream of a caliphate championed by al-Qaeda’s leader in Syria and by the Muslim Brotherhood in Qatar.”

He added: “Anyone who fails to see this, fails to understand both fundamentalist Islam and the true nature of the Middle East.”
