Social media users have shared a video clip showing a person in a public place—believed to be in the city of Hama in central Syria—using slurs and hate speech against the Kurds.
In the video, the individual says: “Some might wonder why your brother was imprisoned… My brother was fighting the Kurdish pigs.”
The circulation of this video comes amid a recent rise in hate speech and incitement against Kurds, alongside other sectarian and religious components in Syria, coinciding with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham taking power.
