Qubad Talabani Discusses Strengthening Trade, Tourism, and Investment Cooperation in Albania

Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, has begun an official visit to the Republic of Albania at the invitation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. During the first leg of his visit, Talabani met with Rama on Monday (6/7/2026) to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation between the two sides. The meeting was attended by Dara Rashid, Minister of Planning; Zhwan Saber, Head of the Tourism Board; and Daban Shadala, Deputy Head of the Kurdistan Region's Department of Foreign Relations. According to PUKMEDIA, the talks focused on mechanisms for coordinating efforts to build strong ties in the fields of trade and tourism, as well as exchanging expertise in a way that would contribute to expanding bilateral cooperation. Qubad Talabani praised the Albanian government's efforts in reform and modernization, strengthening institutions, developing economic infrastructure, advancing the tourism sector, and integrating technology into public services. He stressed that these efforts have helped create a favorable environment for investment and economic growth. Both sides also underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation between the private sectors of both parties and building stronger channels of communication, particularly in the fields of tourism and investment.
