On June 6 and 7, the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan Region will host the proceedings of the International “Delphi” Forum. The event is held under the auspices of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Qubad Talabani, and features the participation of political, economic, and academic figures from Iraq and several countries around the world.
The forum will take place in the “Foundation” hall at the Cultural Complex in Sulaymaniyah. Its organization aims to enhance regional and international dialogue regarding the most prominent challenges and opportunities in the fields of security, energy, economic development, and investment.
The forum is considered one of the most prominent strategic platforms for dialogue, coordination, and regional development. It discusses regional security, sustainable energy, green transport, and economic diversification, alongside issues of governance and economic and administrative reforms, in light of the rapid geopolitical changes in the Middle East.
The Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated in a press release that the conference will be attended by officials, decision-makers, economic experts, and private sector representatives from several countries, including Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia, Poland, Italy, and France. The objective is to discuss ways to strengthen economic and trade cooperation and develop regional and international partnerships.
The Chamber added that the conference comes at a time when the world is undergoing a recovery phase from the repercussions of global crises and turmoil. It aims to support constructive dialogue between the Middle East, Europe, and the United States, and to contribute to drawing new visions for economic and developmental policies.
The Delphi Forum is being held in Sulaymaniyah for the second consecutive year as part of a dialogue initiative on both a global and Middle Eastern level. It involves the participation of major investors, businessmen, and influential figures in the fields of politics, economics, and development, with the aim of preparing commercial policies and strategies and enhancing regional coordination.
The forum has been organized annually since 2016 by the Delphi Economic Forum, a non-governmental and voluntary organization headquartered in the Greek capital, Athens, alongside other centers in Greek regions. The organization relies on cooperation between the public and private sectors, companies, and public figures, while the main forum is held in the Delphi region of the Phocis prefecture in Greece.
Academic, scientific, and political figures, as well as venture capitalists and specialized experts, participate in the forum to discuss contemporary challenges facing Greece and the region in general, and to work on developing strategic visions and reforms that contribute to promoting sustainable development and regional cooperation.
The Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce and Industry emphasized that hosting the forum for the second year reflects Sulaymaniyah’s growing status as a hub for economic and energy dialogue. It also contributes to supporting development and investment opportunities and enhancing sustainable economic policies despite regional and international challenges.
