UAE Condemns Attack on its Embassy in Damascus

The United Arab Emirates expressed on Saturday its strong condemnation and denunciation of the acts of rioting, attempted vandalism of property, and assaults targeting its mission headquarters and the residence of the Head of Mission in the Syrian capital, Damascus. The UAE further affirmed its rejection and disapproval of the unacceptable insults directed toward the state’s national symbols.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the United Arab Emirates’ categorical rejection of such acts of sabotage. The Ministry emphasized the necessity of protecting diplomatic premises, missions, and their personnel in accordance with international laws and norms, particularly the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees full immunity for diplomatic buildings and their staff.

The UAE called upon the temporary Syrian authorities to fulfill their duties in securing the embassy and its employees, to investigate the circumstances of these attacks, and to ensure they are not repeated in the future. It also stressed the need to take all necessary legal measures to ensure those responsible are held accountable.
