President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani held a phone call on Monday evening (April 27, 2026) with U.S. Congressman Abraham Hamadeh to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East, according to a statement from the Regional Presidency.
The statement noted that both sides exchanged views and perspectives on the impacts and repercussions of the current situation, particularly concerning Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. In this context, they emphasized the importance of continued Congressional support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region across various fields.
The statement further explained that the Kurdistan Region’s role in maintaining security and stability, along with the political situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, relations with neighboring countries, and a range of issues of mutual interest, formed another focus of the phone conversation.
