Preparations are ongoing for a new round of meetings between the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Interim Government, as the parties seek to resolve outstanding issues related to the integration mechanism—foremost among them the file of the Justice Palace in Qamishlo—amid continuing discrepancies regarding key clauses of the January 29 agreement.
In the context of the integration file between the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Interim Government, informed sources told the Kurdish Hawar News Agency (ANHA) that this week will witness a series of new meetings between the two sides. These sessions aim to complete ongoing discussions and attempt to reach a consensual formula regarding the Justice Palace in Qamishlo, given the persisting differences over several pending points within the January 29 agreement.
According to the sources, these meetings follow intensive movements during the recent period, which included sessions between a delegation of envoys from Ahmed al-Sharaa, the Governor of Hasakah, and the Minister of Justice of the Interim Government. These meetings were dedicated to discussing ways to address disputes and unify visions regarding the future of judicial institutions in the regions of North and East Syria.
On April 20, a delegation from the Ministry of Justice of the Interim Government visited the Justice Palace in the city of Qamishlo. Information revealed that the Interim Government delegation sought to impose its conditions by recycling Ba’athist judges affiliated with the former regime and appointing them to the Justice Palace. Furthermore, they demanded that current judges and employees cease their duties and return to their homes, with the requirement that they later submit applications for reappointment within the new structure. They also requested the handover of all files and lawsuits related to the local population for disposal—actions that contradict the January 29 agreement.
The upcoming meetings this week take place as discussions continue regarding various integration files. Monitoring sources emphasize that the parties are striving to narrow points of contention and reach final understandings that ensure the continuity of institutional operations within the framework of the agreement signed between the two sides.
