The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in the city of Hasakah, Western Kurdistan “Rojava,” have begun reactivating the security checkpoint at the northern entrance of the city. This move comes in response to residents’ demands for increased security presence and enhanced stability following a recent rise in incidents of murder, kidnapping, theft, and armed robbery.

According to a report by the “ANHA” agency, the Internal Security Forces have repositioned the checkpoint to the area located by the railway tracks, after it had previously been situated near the town of Safya.

The city of Hasakah has recently witnessed several security incidents. Among them was the discovery on June 1st of the body of citizen Mahmoud Muhammad Yunus at the junction of Al-Dhiba village near the town of Safya, days after he disappeared under mysterious circumstances. This prompted residents to demand the reactivation of checkpoints at the city’s entrances and the tightening of security measures.

In this context, Major Hussein Ahmad Dahdi, Director of the Hasakah Region Management Office, stated to “ANHA” agency today that following an analysis of the security situation and the receipt of numerous reports, complaints, and notifications, the primary cause behind the spread of theft, armed robbery, and certain crimes in the city is the widespread use of motorcycles.

Dahdi explained that the Internal Security Forces have taken a series of steps and measures to curb this phenomenon, enforce the law, crack down on violations, and reduce recently emerged crimes such as theft and armed robbery.

Major Hussein Dahdi also revealed that the Internal Security Forces have completed investigations into a number of major cases involving theft and armed robbery rings.

Regarding the new security measures, Dahdi pointed out that the Internal Security Forces carry out core duties aimed at protecting society, enhancing security and stability, and safeguarding both public and private property.

In respect to roads outside the city, he explained that the measures include establishing permanent security checkpoints and deploying mobile patrols, in addition to forming special detachments to protect the roads and setting up stations and outposts to follow up on various security procedures and curb crime.

As for inside the city, he confirmed that the security plan includes intensifying the security presence by setting up permanent checkpoints and deploying round-the-clock patrols to reduce and combat crime.

In the same context, the Internal Security Forces “Asayish” in Hasakah announced on Wednesday the launch of a broad security crackdown across the entire region. The campaign includes pursuing wanted individuals, cracking down on violations, regulating traffic flow, and taking action against violating motorcycles. Traffic police and the Special Security Forces (HAT) are participating in the campaign to reinforce security and stability.

Furthermore, the Command of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Hasakah Governorate issued a circular banning the movement of all types of motorcycles within the administrative boundaries of the governorate, effective from its date of issuance until further notice.
