The Executive Board of the party affirms its continuation on the democratic path and faithfulness to the pledge made by the martyr Hevrin Khalaf, demanding that the perpetrators of her assassination be held accountable.

On the seventh anniversary of the martyrdom of its Secretary-General, Engineer Hevrin Khalaf, and her companion, driver Farhad Ramadan, the Future Syria Party renewed its commitment to continuing the democratic path and persisting in demanding accountability for the perpetrators of their assassination.

Today, the Executive Board of the Future Syria Party issued a statement marking the seventh anniversary of the martyrdom of the “Jasmine of Peace,” Hevrin Khalaf, which falls on October 12. In the statement, the board emphasized that Hevrin Khalaf “was not merely a passing leader, but was and remains a symbol of the struggling Syrian woman.”

The statement explained that Hevrin Khalaf and her companion, driver Farhad Ramadan, “were targeted by treachery and aggression in a brutal and cowardly assassination on the international highway (M4) in 2019,” noting that their memory “lives in the hearts and minds of all free Syrians.”

The party stressed that the martyr Hevrin Khalaf was “the voice of determination and resolve that called for peace and national unity and rejected occupational and fragmentation projects,” regarding her as a “beacon of struggle.”

Regarding the political path, the statement affirmed that “the treacherous bullets that targeted the body of purity and jasmine did not and will not succeed in assassinating our political project,” adding that they “have increased our determination to forge ahead in establishing the foundations of a decentralized, pluralistic, democratic system that guarantees the rights and destiny of all components of the Syrian people.”

Furthermore, the Future Syria Party renewed its strong condemnation of “the continued impunity of the perpetrators and killers,” demanding that “the international community, human rights organizations, and global legal systems assume their responsibilities and hold accountable the perpetrators of this heinous crime, which is classified as a war crime that does not expire under the statute of limitations.”

In conclusion, the party renewed what it described as “faithfulness to the pledge,” stating: “In the name of all councils and offices of the Future Syria Party, and on behalf of women and youth, we renew the pledge to the Jasmine of Syria to carry the torch of peace for which she sacrificed, and to follow in the footsteps of our righteous martyrs until our homeland enjoys freedom, justice, and equality.”
