Masrour Barzani and Mazloum Abdi Discuss the General Situation in the Region

The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, received a phone call on Monday, March 2, 2026, from General Mazloum Abdi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

According to a post by the Kurdistan Regional Government on the X platform, “During the call, the two sides discussed the general situation in the Kurdistan Region and reviewed the latest developments and tensions in the region. They also mutually stressed the importance of safeguarding the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region and the region in general.”

Since February 28, 2026, several areas in the Kurdistan Region—particularly the international coalition base at Erbil International Airport—have been subjected to drone and Iranian missile attacks. The attacks came after a large-scale strike launched by Washington and Tel Aviv against Iran, which resulted in the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
