President of the Kurdistan Region Contacts Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, Laith Al-Khazali, and Mohammad Al-Jabouri Following Their Vote of Confidence from the Federal Parliament

The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, congratulated the Deputy Prime Ministers of the Iraqi Council of Ministers on the occasion of their selection and gaining the confidence of the Federal House of Representatives, expressing his wishes for their success in performing their duties. He also congratulated the completion of the government cabinet headed by Ali Al-Zaidi.

A statement issued by the Kurdistan Region Presidency explained that Barzani held three separate telephone calls on Friday with Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, Laith Al-Khazali, and Mohammad Al-Jabouri, during which he extended his congratulations on their gaining the confidence of the Iraqi Parliament and assuming their duties as Deputy Prime Ministers.

The statement added that the President of the Kurdistan Region expressed his wishes to the three deputies for success in fulfilling their responsibilities in a manner that serves the homeland and citizens.

In the same context, Nechirvan Barzani congratulated the Federal Council of Ministers and government members on the completion of Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi’s ministerial cabinet.

The Iraqi House of Representatives had voted on Thursday evening to select three deputy prime ministers for Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, along with 11 candidates to head vacant ministries, including a minister of state, while the Ministry of Migration remained outside the lineup covered by the vote.

This step comes as part of completing the formation of the Iraqi government, which assumed its duties in May 2026, after the House of Representatives approved part of the ministerial lineup at an earlier stage, while certain ministerial posts remained vacant due to political disagreements over some candidates. The recent vote contributed to filling most of the remaining positions, while the final decision on the Ministry of Migration and Displacement was postponed.
