Officials of the Autonomous Administration also briefed the Swiss delegation on the difficult humanitarian situation in the regions of the Autonomous Administration, particularly in the city of Kobani, which remains under siege to this day and is suffering from water, electricity, and telecommunications outages, amid the presence of tens of thousands of displaced persons who have sought refuge there from various areas, including Raqqa, Tabqa, the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, as well as Afrin.
The meeting also addressed the Agreement of January eighteenth, during which officials of the Autonomous Administration expressed their hope for commitment to the implementation of the agreement’s provisions, in a manner that ensures the integration of the military, security, and administrative institutions of the Autonomous Administration into the institutions of the Syrian state, while preserving the specificity of the Kurdish regions.
For her part, Ms. Franziska Ster, on behalf of the Swiss delegation, expressed her gratitude for the warm reception, affirming that the visit comes within the framework of providing support to Rojava, closely examining the political and humanitarian conditions in the region, monitoring and documenting ongoing violations, and preparing files on the humanitarian situation and violations to be submitted to the relevant international bodies.
