Nechirvan Barzani and Mohamed bin Zayed Discuss Cooperation and Regional Developments in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI – The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, met on Thursday with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in the capital Abu Dhabi as part of an official visit to the UAE.

In a post on the “X” platform, Barzani stated that he discussed with Al Nahyan the state of relations between Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and the United Arab Emirates. He noted that they exchanged views on the impact of regional developments, emphasizing that both sides stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation to contribute to consolidating stability and security throughout the region.

On its part, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed with Barzani various aspects of cooperation between the UAE and Iraq in general, and the Kurdistan Region in particular. The discussions focused on ways to develop and expand these horizons to bring prosperity and growth to the two brotherly peoples.

The agency added that the meeting also involved an exchange of views on a number of issues of mutual interest, foremost among them regional developments and their implications for regional and international security and stability.

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.

A number of other sheikhs, ministers, and officials.

The President of the Kurdistan Region arrived in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday evening for an official visit to meet with UAE officials and discuss several files, including the rapid developments in the region and energy security issues.
