Zolfan Gharib Appointed Head of the Sulaymaniyah Directorate of Nationality and Civil Status as Part of Security Reshuffle

Brigadier General Zolfan Gharib has, for the first time, assumed the position of Acting Director of the Sulaymaniyah Directorate of Nationality and Civil Status for a six-month term, as part of a series of security and administrative changes approved by the Ministry of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government, which also included changes in the province's police leadership. On Monday, Sulaymaniyah Governorate witnessed the official handover ceremony for the positions of Police Director of Sulaymaniyah and Director of the Directorate of Nationality and Civil Status, attended by a representative of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, along with several security commanders and government officials. The ceremony was held in implementation of administrative orders issued by the General Directorate of Nationality in the Kurdistan Region, based on decisions by the Ministry of Interior, which included changes to a number of security and administrative positions across Sulaymaniyah Governorate. Under the new decisions, Brigadier General Zolfan Gharib assumed leadership of the Directorate of Nationality and Civil Status, succeeding Brigadier General Hemen Kamal. In turn, Kamal began serving as Acting Police Director of Sulaymaniyah for a six-month period, replacing Brigadier General Dr. Aram Mohammed, who retired after reaching the legal retirement age. Zolfan Gharib is regarded as one of the well-known security figures in the Kurdistan Region. She is also recognized for her cultural activities and advocacy for women's issues, and is known as a prominent writer and defender of women's rights, with contributions to addressing social issues through her writings and public activities.
