On Saturday, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, mourned the passing of the prominent Kurdish writer, translator, and short story writer, Jalil Kakaweis (جەلیل کاکە وەیس).
Barzani stated: “I extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to his honorable family, relatives, and all writers and intellectuals of Kurdistan, and I share in their sorrow.”
He added: “The late Jalil Kakaweis held a prominent position and rendered a great service to the literary and cultural movement in Kurdistan, as he contributed significantly to enriching the cultural scene through his valuable works and translations, particularly in the fields of short stories and contemporary literature.”
He continued: “I pray to Almighty God to bestow His vast mercy and forgiveness upon our deceased, and to inspire his family, relatives, and loved ones with patience and solace.”
