SDF Announces Ceasefire Agreement Including Military and Administrative Integration

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Friday that they have reached a comprehensive agreement with the Syrian government to halt hostilities between the two sides and to begin a phased process of integrating military forces and administrative institutions in North and East Syria. The step was described as aiming to enhance stability and unify efforts to rebuild the country.

According to the text of the agreement, military forces will withdraw from contact lines, while security forces affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Interior will enter the city centers of Hasakah and Qamishli, alongside the launch of a process to integrate security forces in the region. The agreement also stipulates the formation of a military division comprising three brigades from the Syrian Democratic Forces, in addition to the establishment of a special Kobani Forces brigade within a division affiliated with Aleppo Governorate.

The agreement further includes the integration of the Autonomous Administration’s institutions into Syrian state institutions, the confirmation of civilian employees in their positions, the settlement of the civil and educational rights of the Kurdish people, and guarantees for the return of displaced persons to their areas.

In a statement issued on 30 January 2026, the SDF Media Center affirmed that the agreement aims to unify Syrian territory and achieve full integration in the region by strengthening cooperation among the relevant parties and unifying efforts to achieve stability.

In a related context, Ilham Ahmed, Head of External Relations of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, said in a statement published on the platform “X” that the Autonomous Administration expresses its deep gratitude to the mediating states and parties, foremost among them the United States of America and France, for their intensive efforts to reach this agreement.

Ahmed added that the agreement constitutes an important step toward stability, expressing hope that international actors will play a guarantor role to ensure the success of the integration process. She explained that the entry of security forces aims to ensure the implementation of a responsible and gradual integration that preserves partnership and the dignity of all components, and paves the way for fair and balanced development across all regions.

She also reaffirmed the Autonomous Administration’s commitment to ensuring the success of the integration track in a manner that serves Syria’s unity, strengthens social peace, lays the foundation for a new phase of stability and development, and guarantees the safe and dignified return of the residents of Afrin and Serekaniye to their areas.
