Syrian Observatory Calls for Disclosure of the Men’s Fate and Clarification of the Reasons and Location of Their Detention
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that General Security Forces arrested two Kurdish men from the Afrin area on the morning of September 22, 2026, as they were passing through the “al-Hamzat” checkpoint in the Raqqa countryside, with no information so far about the reasons or motives behind their detention.
According to information reported by the Observatory, the two men were traveling from Aleppo to the city of Qamishli to visit members of their families when they were stopped at the security checkpoint.
According to the same information, one of the two men is from the village of Julqa, which belongs to the Jindires subdistrict in the Afrin countryside.
In this context, the Observatory called on the relevant authorities to immediately disclose the fate of the two men and clarify the reasons for their detention and the location where they are being held. It also called for ensuring their safety and enabling their families to receive reassurance about their well-being.
The Observatory further called for their release if there is no legal justification for continuing to detain them.
