Ilham Ahmed: Damascus’ Ceasefire Announcement Has Not Translated into Real Commitment on the Ground
Ilham Ahmed, Co-Chairof the Autonomous Administration’s Department of Foreign Relations, stated that Damascus’ announcement of a ceasefire “has not translated into any real commitment on the ground.”
In a post on X, Ahmed said, “What we are witnessing today is a massacre in Kobani and ongoing attacks across various areas of the Jazira region,” noting that “the gap between official rhetoric and the bloody reality continues to widen.”
She stressed that “any political process that does not begin with the protection of civilians remains nothing more than a political illusion,” describing “silence in the face of these crimes as a moral failure,” and holding the international community “directly and morally responsible for taking action in response to what is happening.”
